Artisan Pork

At Beebe Creek Farm, we raise our hogs in a healthy outdoor environment–the fresh air and sunshine of northern Pike County.  They have good shelter and lots of mud to waller in.  They receive antibiotics only if needed to treat an illness, which is very rare, and are fed a standard hog ration with no hormones.

Not surprisingly, they produce outstanding high-quality pork that our customers rave about.  The flavor is excellent, and buying in bulk makes it cheaper than store-bought pork.

Buying Our Pork

  • We sell half or whole hogs approximately every 4-6 weeks throughout the year (next available – August 2011).
  • The hogs are processed by Ed Kabrick Beef of Plainville (217-656-3263), a friendly bunch of people who are happy to work with you to help you figure out what sort of pork cuts you want.  Their state-inspected processing facility is family owned and operated.
  • Kabrick’s will cut your meat to your specifications (if you prefer small hams, for example, or boneless pork chops, etc.).  They make excellent ham, bacon and sausage!
  • They offer free delivery to Quincy, and are also willing to keep your pork for you for a week or so if you can’t take delivery right away.
  • Your total cost – depending on what you want done with the pork – should be less than $2 a pound. (Average cost for recent half-hogs was about $1.80 / lb.)  A half-hog will probably be around 80-100 lbs – you will need a large freezer!!!
  • You’ll make two payments:
  1. Kabrick’s for the processing
  2. Harley Baugher for the meat – $1.00/lb based on the rail weight (which will be on your Kabrick’s invoice).
